The best tent ever!

I have just found the most awesome tent ever! Maybe a litttttttle over what i'd be willing to pay for a tent, at £299,  but check this out:

My Crib

I moved into my new flat just over a month ago now, and although i'm still moving things around and figuring out what should go where, i'm pretty pleased with it! I found the place while casually browsing rightmove.com, and found a flat that said it had a 'balcony bed above the living area' which really intrigued me, so i decided to book a viewing. I wasn't really desperate to move, just ready to fly the nest and looking around at what was out there, so the viewing was more to cure my curiosity more than anything. 

Anyhoo, I saw it and loved it, and now i'm in it! It has a main living room, with a little staircase up to a doublebed-sized area where I sleep! It also has a separate kitchen and bathroom, and a cupboard to keep my ironing board/broom/clothes horse/wellies etc. Here are some photos for you to see:

 I'm sure lots of things will move around, and new things will appear. I've not yet got round to putting anything on the walls. I'm not allowed to put nails in, so I have to find things that can be put up with blu-tak!

Painting Furniture

A couple of months ago I posted some furniture that I had bought with the dream of doing them up.

Yesterday I painted my chest of drawes, that was £14 from a charity shop.

It took a whole day and included getting told off my the kids next door for being too noisy when I was sanding so that they couldn't hear CBBC, and picking a blue paint that was too blue. I added a tube of black acrylic paint to the blue paint for the top coat, so it was more of a grey-ish blue, rather than a toy-box blue, and this is what I got:

I decided to leave the handles as they were, and sanded the shiny varnish off the legs but kept them wooden.
I'm considering spray painting both the handles and the legs the same colour though, maybe a turquoise/teal. What do you think?

Wait a minute mister postman!

I'm watching 'Have I Got News For You' and they're talking about things going missing in the post, which has reminded me of something I saw a while ago and half considered putting in my blog, and then kind of didn't...

Today I am feeling much more motivated, so here it is:

Artist Harriet Russell created this project to see what lengths our postmen (and women) will go to, to deliver a letter. She concealed the addresses of 130 letters to herself in a series of puzzles and left the people at the post office to figure out where to deliver them to. Amazingly, only 10 failed to get back to her!

Brownie Vecta

I recently bought a 1960's Brownie Vecta camera from a carboot and found that I was able to get hold of some old 127 format film for it, so decided to give it a go and see if it still worked. I messed up a bit loading the film, so I think it's my fault that the first few photos didn't turn out, but some of them came out better than I had expected!

The camera has no settings what so ever. No focus or shutter speeds to play around with so it was literally a case of pointing and shooting and hoping for the best. It's crazy how much cameras have come on, with the super digital SLR cameras of today, but I don't think you can beat the simplicity and uncertainty of playing around with an uncomplicated film camera. Here are my results:
